The rhymes for your limericks are the best! I’m still chuckling over “Oedipus, greedy puss, and needy puss.” Too bad Sophocles didn’t think of lightening up Oedipus Rex with a few well-placed limericks 🙂 (confession: had to ask Google who wrote the play about Oedipus).
Sophocles was a serious man and I hope I didn’t do him any injustice but I couldn’t resist.
Willow, thank you.
John
No injustice done, John, I was just making a little joke.
Winnie says she’s sure you enjoy the challenge the difficult and different presents
and rise to it exceptionally and with such flair. This is brilliant, no other word for it.
Harry
Winnie and Harry,
These little bits of nonsense keep me off the streets.
Thank you both.
I am not smart enough for this! 😦
Thank you so much for reading and commenting, I appreciate it.
My best to you
John
Clever rhymes, John. But most of all an absolute hoot!! I’m still grinning like the Cheshire version!
Happy you enjoyed it, Chris. As I said to Winnie and Harry these little bits keep me off the streets.
Have to work on one for next week, Muse permitting.
Best wishes
John
“So be sweet and kind to mother
Buy her candy or a hat
But maybe you should let it go at that.
You may end up like Oedipus
I’d rather marry a duck-billed platypus.”
Tom Lehrer (mid fifties)
Yes, Bruce, good ole Tom, one of my all-time favourites, I think I have on disc almost everything he wrote and sang.
Thank you for reading, I appreciate your support as ever.
Best wishes to you and hope the Swedish classes are going well.
John
I love this
Thank you, Rajiv, thank you very much
My best to you
John
Okay – had to do that one out loud. Only you could come up with it!

Susan, thank you
‘Those little bits of nonsense’ that keep you ‘off the streets’ are a delight to me, John. Keep them coming – they make me smile and are quite clever. 🙂
Hope I can keep them going, Kate, a few more at any rate.
Happy you enjoy them.
A big hug
John
