tread soft round mossy trees
where apples sweeten and hazels swell
walk a field fumed with poppies
and hear swallows over say farewell
on a peak between two spreads
turn from grey Atlantic’s fathomed heart
and face the cryptic blue Pacific
we’ve yet to delve and chart
be still and listen to sweet music
on Attic vase simple strung
and don’t regret the lovers never kiss
they are perfected and forever young
raise a glass full of the warm south
the night is tender and the moon is grand
we’ll drink to Beauty Truth and Love
and Peace to touch us with a magic hand
This contains a very peaceful charm, John, and I understand your title’s reference. Perhaps it is time for us all to find a wuiet moment of reflection.
Hope you are keeping well.

Keats can do no wrong in my book. My gosh, jf, you sing as if you were he. A gift of melodic sensory. If that is even a thing. It must be. ♡ Fantastic poetry.

This is fabulous, John, and I love Keats. In fact, one of his books resides comfortably on my coffee table. 🙂 “Walk a field fumed with poppies” is such a gorgeous vision. Just lovely! ❤

Brother John – Enjoyed “moments with Keats.” He’s my favorite of the Romantic Poets. Loved the references to his poems both in subject and sound. The closing stanza is exquisite:
raise a glass full of the warm south
the night is tender and the moon is grand
we’ll drink to Beauty Truth and Love
and Peace to touch us with a magic hand
Here’s to you, Brother John.
And here’s to you
Bother David
and with many many thanks
for your excellent support and encouragement
